Flüt virtüözü, besteci, flüt yapımcısı, öğretmen, müzik yazarı ve teorisyeni olan
Johann Joachhim Quantz, flüt tarihinin en önemli kişiliklerinden biridir. Yaşamı
boyunca flüt repertuvarını zenginleştirmek, enstrümanı daha iyi bir duruma getirmek
için çabalamıştır. Galant ve empfindsamer stillerinin önde gelen müzisyeni olan Quantz,
Berlin ekolünün kurucuları arasında gösterilmektedir. Deneyimlerini, düşüncelerini ve
bilgilerini aktardığı Yan Flüt Çalma Metodu Üzerine Bir Deneme (Versuch einer
Anweisung die Flöte traversiere zu spielen) adlı eseriyle, flüt tarihi kadar müzik
tarihinde de etkili olmuştur. Bu eser, 18. yüzyıl müziği ile ilgilenen her müzisyen için
bir başvuru kaynağı olabilecek niteliktedir.
Bu çalışmada, Quantz’ın yaşamı ve müzik ortamı, müzik stili, flüte getirdiği
yenilikler, besteleri ve denemesi hakkında bilgi verilmiştir.

ABSTRACT
THE IMPORTANCE OF JOHANN JOACHIM QUANTZ IN THE
HISTORY OF FLUTE

Johann Joachim Quantz, who was a flute virtuoso, composer, flute maker, teacher,
music writer and
theorist,
is one of the most important figures in the history of flute.
Throughout his whole life, he endeavored to enrich his repertoire and improve his
instrument. Quantz, one of the foremost musicians of the galant and the empfindsamer
styles, is regarded among the founders of Berlin school. He has influenced the history of
music as well as the history of flute with his work called An Essay of a Method for
Playing the Transverse Flute (Versuch einer Anweisung die Flöte traversiere zu spielen)
in which he conveyed his experiences, thoughts and knowledge. It is qualified enough
to be a reference guide for those who are interested in the music of the 18th century. In
this study, we gave information regarding Quantz’s life, his musical atmosphere, his
musical style, the improvements he made in the flute and his essay.
