DECLARATION AGAINST COUP
The treacherous attempt of a group who used the armed forces of Turkey against the people has
been hindered by the insightful and powerful resistance of the public. The plotters’ obvious treason
lies beneath the fact that the forces they used were entrusted to them by the same people they
attacked.
As civil academic institutions of Turkey, we stand with our people who opposed to this vile treason
and preserved their dignity and honor in the face of this attempt. We reject every ideological stance
which nourishes and ignores the pro-coup mindset and we stand with the chosen representatives
of our national will. As of now, it is vital to operate the legal process as quick as possible in order
for all domestic and foreign supporters of this coup and coup-related structures to face justice and
pay the price of their crimes. In addition, in order to make sure that these kind of perilous
organizations and attempts will not be founded, actualized and operated again, legal and
administrative precautions should be taken immediately.
We express our deepest condolences to our martyrs who poured onto streets and gave their lives
against these enemies of humanity who recognize no values and legal rules. We also wish for the
wellbeing and quick recovery of people who have been wounded during the armed conflict in the
streets. We hope that our country and people will not have to pay another severe price and will
eventually reach a peaceful environment.
As the Civil Academic Institutions named and undersigned below, we will continue serving our
country and people with our scientific activities, and we will do this with the sole purpose of
contributing to foundation of welfare, development, justice, freedom, law and peace in Turkey.
