Cahill, Sn Atilla Göknur ve Sn. Lütfiye Mesci’nin içinde bulunduğu Wisconsin Üniversitesi heyeti karşılandı. Rektörümüz Prof. Dr. A. Murat Tuncer’in makamında protokol imza töreni yapıldı. Protokolün imzalanmasından sonra toplantı UEİGK Genel Koordinatörü Prof. Dr. Nermin Yamalık’ın hoş geldiniz konuşması ile başladı. Prof. Dr. Nermin Yamalık, Wisconsin ve Hacettepe Üniversitesi arasında imzalanan protokolle ilgili heyete ve diğer katılımcılara iyi dileklerini iletti. Daha sonra sözü Prof. William Aylward, Wisconsin-Madison Universitesi, Department of Classics açılış konuşması yapmak için devraldı. Prof. William Aylward, Wisconsin Üniversitesi ve Hacettepe Üniversitesi arasında imzalanan protokolle beraberinde gelişen işbirliğinden ve akademik iletişim ağından ötürü mutluluklarını dile getirdi. Moleküler arkeoloji çalışmalarının yürütülmesi için kurulacak ortak laboratuarların önemini vurguladı, arkeolojik çalışmalarda kullanılabilecek yeni tekniklerin tanımlanmasındaki başarıların karşılıklı paylaşılacağını dile getirdi. Bu protokolün, ABD ve Türkiye’de bulunan bilim adamları ve öğrenciler için büyük fırsatlar sunacağını belirtti. Prof. Dr. Nurten Akarsu, Hacettepe Üniversitesi Department of Medical Genetics, açılış konuşmasını yapmak için sözü devraldı. Nurten Akarsu, konuşması esnasında bu protokolün iki üniversite arasındaki ortak çıkarlarına, mevcut tekniklerin gelişimine, ortak toplantılara, DNA bankasına katkı sağlayacağını vurguladı. Konuşmasında projeye liderlerini yürütecek olan Prof. William Aylward ve Prof. Dr. Yılmaz Selim Erdal ve Prof. Nicolas D. Cahill hakkında katılımcılara bilgilendirme yaptı. Açılış konuşmalarından hemen sonra katılımcılar kısaca kendilerini tanıttı. Uluslararası İlişkiler Uzmanı Özlem Alioğlu Türker, Hacettepe Üniversitesi Uluslararası Eğitim ve İşbirliği Koordinatörlüğü, Hacettepe Üniversitesi’ni sayılar, tablolar ve resimlerle anlatan tanıtıcı bir sunum yaptı. Prof. William Aylward, 1891 yılında kurulan 40.000 öğrencisi bulunan Wisconsin Universitesi hakkında bilgi verdi. Prof. Aylward Wisconsin Üniversitesi’nin özellikle Tıp Fakültesi açısından Amerika’da önemli bir devlet üniversitesi olduğunu belirtti. Kampüs içerisinde son teknolojilere sahip biyoteknoloji laboratuarlarının, fakültelerin ve araştırma merkezlerinin, ancient DNA laboratuarlarının olduğunu belirterek kampüs yaşamı hakkında bilgi verdi. Moleküler arkeoloji programının bitki, hayvan, insan sınırı olmadan tüm canlıların anlaşılması için çok farklı disiplinleri içeren geçmişi günümüzde yaşamamıza neden olabilecek bir bilim olduğunu belirtti. Prof. Dr. Nermin Yamanlık, sunumların ardından Soru&Cevap oturumunu başlattı. Bu oturumda; Atilla Göknur, Wisconsin Biotechnology Center, bu oturumda Prof. Dr. İhsan Doğramacı hakkında saygı dileklerini ileterek konuşmasına başladı ve teknoloji transferinin ve eğitim fırsatlarının öğrenciler için çok yararlı olacağını belirtti Öğrenci sayılarının programlara göre değişiklik gösterebileceğini ve öğrenciler için 1 yıl gibi bir sürenin öngörülebileceği konuşuldu. Adli Tıp programı konusunda tekniklerin geliştirilmeye devam edildiği belirtildi. Bu programın sürdürülebilirliği için her iki üniversite’den projeye katkı veren akademisyenlerin arasındaki iletişimin, araştırma programlarının oluşturulmasının, proje geliştirmenin önemine vurgu yapıldı. Bu kısımda online eğitim konusunda öneriler verildi İki Üniversite arasında Mevlana protokolünün imzalanmasının, Üniversite için fon sağlamanın yanında akademisyen, öğrenci ve idari personelin mobilizasyonu için oldukça iyi bir olanak sağlayacağı Wisconsin Üniversitesi yetkililerine bir öneri olarak sunuldu. Araştırma merkezinin kurulumu ve kalite standartlarına uygun laboratuarların kurulması için kaynak bulmanın önemi vurgulandı. Merkezin ve laboratuarların kurulumu için kaynak araştırılması yapılmasına karar verildi. Mevcut Laboratuarların akreditasyonu için de öneriler verildi. Steering Komitesinin kurulması gerektiği belirtildi. Projenin sürdürülebilirliği için toplantıların önemi vurgulandı. Prof. Dr. Nermin Yamalık’ın kapanış notlarından sonra Saat 15.25’de katılımcılar iyi dilekleriyle ayrıldılar. Cahill, Mr. Atilla Göknur and Ms. Lütfiye Mesci is greeted. Signing ceremony took part at the chair of our Rector Prof. Dr. A. Murat Tuncer. After the signing ceremony, meeting started with the speech of Prof. Dr. Nermin Yamalık, General Coordinator of International Collaboration and Education Office. Prof. Dr. Nermin Yamalık shared her good wishes about the protocol that has been signed between Wisconsin University and Hacettepe University with the committee and other participants. After, Prof. William Aylward, Wisconsin-Madison University, Department of Classics made the opening remarks. Prof. William Aylward mentioned his gladness due to the academic communication network and collaboration that is developed within the protocol signed between Wisconsin University and Hacettepe University. He emphasized the importance of a mutual laboratory which will be established to carry out molecular archaeology studies and he told that successes which will be achieved to define new techniques for archaeological work will be shared mutually. He stated that this protocol will give scientists and students in US and Turkey big opportunities. Prof. Dr. Nurten Akarsu, Hacettepe University, Department of Medical made the opening remarks. During the speech Nurten Akarsu stated that this protocol will contribute to mutual benefit, development of current techniques, mutual meetings and DNA bank of both universities. She informed the participants about Prof. William Aylward, Prof. Dr. Yılmaz Selim Erdal and Prof. Nicolas D. Cahill who will lead the project. After Opening remarks, participants briefly introduced themselves. International Relations Specialist Özlem Alioğlu Türker (Office for International Education and Collaboration) made an introductory presentation demonstrating Hacettepe University with numbers, charts and pictures. Prof. William Aylward gave information about Wisconsin University which was established in 1891 and has 40.000 students. Prof. Aylward indicated that Wisconsin University especially the Medical Faculty is an important state university in America. He mentioned that the campus has the last technology biotechnology laboratories, faculties, research centers, ancient DNA laboratories and he gave information about campus life. He stated that molecular archaeology program is a field of science which includes a lot of different disciplines to understand all living beings without limiting it with plants, animals or human beings, and a field of science that will bring the past to present. After presentations, Prof. Dr. Nermin Yamanlık started Questions & Answers session. In this session; Atilla Göknur, Wisconsin Biotechnology Center, started his speech with presenting his respect to Prof. Dr. İhsan Doğramacı and he stated that technology transfer and education opportunities will be very helpful to students. It has been mentioned that the number of students may vary according to the programs and one year can be foreseen as a period for students. It has been stated that techniques are still being improved about forensics. It was underlined that for the sake of the sustainability of this program, providing communication between scholars from both universities who contribute the project, establishing research programs and building projects are important. In this session suggestions have been made about online education. It has been suggested to Wisconsin University officials that signing Mevlana protocol between two universities would provide a good opportunity for mobilization of scholars, students and administrative personnel as well as fund raising. It was implied that it is important to find resource to establish research centers and laboratories that are reasonable with quality standards. It has been decided that resource research for establishment of center and laboratories will be conducted. Also there were suggestions about accreditation of existing laboratories. It was stated that Steering Committee should be established. It was implied that meetings are important for sustainability of the project. After the closing remarks of Prof. Dr. Nermin Yamalık, participants left with their best wishes at 15.25.
